From Valencia to the Albufera
- About 15 kilometers from the center of Valencia is the Albufera Natural Park, at its center is a freshwater lagoon separated from the sea only by a small isthmus of land and sand.
- Covering 21,000 hectares , most of which is rice paddies, this peaceful oasis was declared a Natural Park in 1986 and, since 1989, has been recognized as a “Wetland of International Importance.” A wide variety of flora and fauna can be observed here year-round.

From Valencia to the Albufera - How to Get to the Lagoon
🦆From Valencia to the Albufera, the most practical option is undoubtedly bus numbers 24 or 25. The
terminus of both lines (and the closest stop to Valencia’s historic center) is Puerta del Mar (or Puerta de la Mar in Valencian).
Line 24 ends its route in the small, charming village of El Palmar, while line 25 ends its journey in El Perelló.
Reachable by both lines, the most interesting stop is the Mirador del Pujol (Embarcador de l’Albufera stop), from which you can enjoy a splendid and romantic view of much of the lagoon.
🦆 For the more adventurous, this Natural Park can also be reached by bike ! That’s right, because there’s a bike path that leads from the center of Valencia right to this protected area.
What not to miss in Albufera
🦆 A 40-minute boat trip gliding across the tranquil waters of Albufera Lake: unmissable!
The small boarding platforms are located at Mirador del Pujol, which can be reached by bus 24 or 25 (Embarcador de l’Albufera stop, which is right in front of this boarding point).
The sunset excursion is also special !

🦆 An exceptional and authentic paella in one of the many restaurants in the small village of El Palmar, which can be reached by bus 24 (last stops on this line: VicentBaldovà – Novelda stop or El Palmar stop)
🦆 For those visiting the Natural Park between January and March, a visit to the bird observatory (indicated as Observatori d’aus on Maps) is highly recommended so as not to miss the spectacle provided by an incredible multitude of beautiful flamingos that temporarily stop here.
🦆 For those visiting Albufera Park between November and December, we recommend admiring the spectacle of the flooded rice fields, where various species of birds swan about peacefully, from the bus windows.
